MBTA Communities Information Session

MBTA Communities Housing Information Session

Join a session to learn about this topic and Dracut's path to compliance.

In response to Governor Baker's 2021 signing of the multifamily zoning law, 177 communities, including Dracut, are mandated to establish a zoning district where multifamily housing is permitted as of right. Designated as an "adjacent" MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) community, Dracut is tasked with creating a zoning district spanning at least 50 acres, allowing for the construction of 1,233 housing units in three-family or larger homes.

The Town of Dracut is set to host two information sessions in the coming month to shed light on the MBTA Communities Housing/Zoning Law. Whether attending in person or virtually via Zoom, residents are encouraged to learn about the impacts of this new law and how the Town of Dracut is working to comply.

Event Details:

In-Person Session:

Date: February 8th
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Harmony Hall

Virtual Session:

Date: February 29th

Dracut MBTA Communities Survey

The Town of Dracut is asking residents to partake in the Dracut MBTA Communities Survey, which can be done either by filling out the Dracut MBTA Communities Survey (PDF) version, or by accessing it online

Surveys are available at, and can be delivered to:

  • Dracut Town Hall - 62 Arlington St
  • M.G. Parker Memorial Library - 28 Arlington St
  • Dracut Council on Aging - 951 Mammoth St

The purpose of this survey is to gather input from Dracut residents for the Zoning Bylaw Review Committee. We value your time in responding to the questions and offering insights into this process. The survey will remain accessible until March 6, 2024. Following this, the Zoning Bylaw Review Committee will hold additional virtual and in-person meetings to review the findings and ensure compliance with the Town of Dracut's regulations.
