She has skin in the game

Having worked in the critical-care field for 17 years, the last seven as a nurse practitioner, Amy Gensale was looking for something a little less stressful and time-consuming.

“It’s a lot,” she said of the grind of working in critical care.

Amy worked as a nurse at Lowell General Hospital for years before becoming a nurse practitioner and going to work for Mass General Brigham Urgent Care.goddess

Then she discovered aesthetics, a field where she could still use her medical background while keeping hours that were more conducive to being around more for her three young sons.

According to Amy, “I had a friend who recommended that I look into aesthetics. She said, ‘You do sutures. You’re good with needles. Why not look into aesthetics?’”

Amy opened Goddess Aesthetics at 1168 Lakeview Avenue, second floor, last year. Her practice offers Botox, dermal fillers, facials, weight-loss injections, microneedling, chemical peels, Kybella and more. First-time clients get $75 off most procedures.

“I found this place and it was perfect,” she said of the Enterprise Bank office building.

The space was a little too big for her needs, so she asked a couple of friends who are also nurse practitioners with backgrounds in aesthetics if they wanted to share the space. Those two – Regan Morin of Aesthetics by Regan and Taylor Livingston of Taylor’d Aesthetics – set up LLCs so now three businesses that offer aesthetics services operate out of the same space.

Though she still works a few shifts a month at Mass General Brigham Urgent Care, Amy is home most nights in time to put the kids to bed.

“I worked very hard to get where I am so I didn’t want to give it up completely,” she said. “But this is better for my kids. Working for Urgent Care, I wasn’t getting home till 7:30, 8:00. I was looking for something else to do that would give me more time with my kids.”

Amy and her family live in Pelham, but they spend a lot of time in Dracut, so the location suits her perfectly.

According to its website, www.goddess-aesthetics.com, Goddess “blends medical precision with spa-like tranquility, delivering a range of sought-after non-surgical aesthetic treatments.”
