It’s not that Jenn Plante didn’t like working as a physical therapist. It’s just that she likes taking photos more.
After getting a taste of photography as the photo editor of the newspaper at her alma mater, Amesbury High School, Jenn went to college for sports medicine, then worked as a physical therapist for 12 years.
But all that time, she had the itch to pick up her camera and start snapping.
“I was at that age when all your friends start getting married, and I’d keep watching the wedding photographers and I’d think, I want to do that,” Jenn says. “And so I decided to do it.”
The Dracut resident started Jenn Plante Photography on the side while a physical therapist by day. She registered as an LLC in 2019 and earlier in 2022, she decided to give up her 12-year career in physical therapy.
“Now I’m all photography, all the time,” she says.
Jenn lives on View Street in the Kenwood section of Dracut – in the house in which her father grew up – with her husband, Dan, and their children, Mace, 5, and Nira, 1½.
She mostly photographs family portraits and sports teams, though she still has a particular affinity for wedding shoots. And she doesn’t mind traveling around New England (or farther, if it’s in the budget).
She’s not one of those stern photographers who stresses out her subjects.
“I try to make it as fun as possible,” she says. “I’m definitely a creative kind of person.”
So with the holidays, fall weddings and other autumnal events on the horizon, Jenn is available for professional photo shoots – and she has gift certificates available.
“In an ideal world, I want people to have an image of my logo pop into their heads when they think of photography,” she says.
