Joel Luna’s regular customers don’t have too far to go if they want to continue having him fix their cars.
Joel moved his repair shop about two miles down the road -- from his previous spot at 72 Bridge Street in Pelham to his new location at 1867 Bridge Street in Pelham, the former site of Tom’s Auto Service.
After 20 years in Pelham, Joel and his wife, Millie, reopened Joel’s Auto Repair & Services at the new site at the beginning of the new year. Dracut Economic Development held a ribbon-cutting for Joel’s on January 19.
The reason for the move came down to one important factor.
“I had the opportunity to buy the property and business,” Joel says. “I was renting for 20 years in Pelham.”
Tom’s closed last year, two years after longtime owner Thomas Tingas passed away. Joel looked into buying the property at that time, and the former owner’s daughters remembered his interest when they decided to sell the property.
Since he’s only a couple of miles from his previous location, Joel is confident he’ll keep the regular clientele he has cultivated in his two decades in Pelham, and he says he has picked up some of Tom’s customers.
Joel has big plans for the new location come springtime, including a brand-new sign, new bay doors and some landscaping.
“We’ll clean it up, make it look presentable,” he says.
