She went into the yoga business.
Dracut Economic Development held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Kerri’s new business, Rooted Wellness Company, on Saturday, March 9, to help celebrate her grand opening.
Kerri started practicing yoga about 20 years ago and became a massage therapist five years ago. She is co-owner of Andovers Massage Cooperative Therapies in North Andover, though she plans to phase out her involvement there and focus solely on Rooted Wellness.
Kerri knew Vicki and heard she was looking for someone else to take over the space.
“This opportunity came up to me,” she said. “The previous owner wanted to pass on the torch.”
Whereas Discover the Wonders was all about yoga, Kerri is increasing the offerings available at Rooted Wellness to include massage, Reiki and acupressure. She even has an infrared sauna room.
“It’s different than steam,” she said. “Infrared gets into your cells. Studies show it helps with blood pressure, skin conditions, sleep issues.”
Among the special events Kerri has planned at Rooted Wellness is a workshop called “A Spirit’s Journey,” with spiritual medium Cheryl Bradley on Saturday, March 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. (For a complete list of events, visit www.rooted-wellness-company.com.)
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was one of the most well-attended events run by Dracut Economic Development, a fact that had Kerri feeling emotional.
“I’m overwhelmed, excited and happy,” she said after cutting the ribbon.
