Transportation Options

Dracut Senior Center Buses 

Reservations call Debbie Lasorsa, Transportation Coordinator
Through a partnership with the Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA), the Senior Center operates 4 buses/vehicles. All Vehicles are wheelchair lift or wheelchair ramp equipped. You are encouraged to book your transportation as soon as you make your doctor’s appointment. It is never too soon to book a ride. Leave a message with your ride request anytime. Scheduling is done on a first come, first serve basis. While we make every effort to accommodate last minute requests, it is not always possible.

Monday - Thursday: 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM 
Fridays – Day Trips

While primarily used as transportation to and from the Senior Center, this vehicle also is used for shopping and errands around Dracut including hair appointments, pharmacies, banking, and visiting friends.

Grocery Shopping

Tuesdays & Thursdays

Grocery shopping is done in shifts. The bus is picking up or dropping off other clients while a 2nd group is grocery shopping. 

Tuesdays, Market Basket on Bridge Street3 shifts: 8:00 AM, 10:30 AM & 1:00 PM
Thursday, Market Basket on the Boulevard1 shift: 8:00 AM

Local medical trips are to appointments in Dracut, Lowell, Chelmsford and as far into Tewksbury as 500 Clark Road.

Transportation to destinations listed below are provided via this smaller, wheelchair ramp equipped, vehicle. This service books quickly as older adults are often scheduling trips to see specialists in Boston hospitals or Lahey 3 to 6 months in advance.

Other Transportation Options Provided by the LRTA 

The LRTA services eleven communities providing fixed route bus service for six cities and towns and serves elderly and disabled citizens through the LRTA Road Runner Program. 

AgeSpan CareRide Program

CareRide is a subsidized transportation service for non-emergency medical appointments for people 65 and over residing in the Greater Lowell and Greater Haverhill areas. The program provides transportation to doctors’ appointments and health and wellness programs when no other transportation options are available. The program uses Lyft and there is a nominal fee.
