The current Town Hall sits on the site of the former Dracut Center School, built in 1883. In 1898, when the town built a new Dracut Center School on Spring Park Avenue, it was converted to serve as the Town Hall and Library. It underwent many changes over the years, and in 1939 was converted to a one-and-a-half story structure, (photo) which served as the Town Hall until 2014, when it was replaced by the current building.
Dracut's current Town Hall encompasses 23,000 square feet over two floors and a full basement. The main floor features the Douglas G. Willett Board of Selectmen's Chamber, accessible restrooms, and offices for the Town Clerk and Financial Departments. The upper level houses regulatory and administrative offices alongside the Dennis E. Piendak Conference Room. This modern facility replaces the previous town hall and, with additional acquired property, contributes to the development of a new town center and common area.
Additional information regarding the history of Town Hall and other historic buildings in Town can be accessed through the Historical Commission's webpage.
