FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is a government agency that is responsible for responding to natural disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and wildfires, as well as man-made disasters, such as terrorist attacks. FEMA works to coordinate the response efforts of local, state, and federal agencies, providing assistance and resources to help communities recover and rebuild in the aftermath of disasters. FEMA is also responsible for administering the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which provides insurance to homeowners and businesses in flood-prone areas.
