FEMA works to coordinate the response efforts of local, state, and federal agencies, providing assistance and resources to help communities recover and rebuild in the aftermath of disasters. FEMA is also responsible for administering the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which provides insurance to homeowners and businesses in flood-prone areas.
