[ARCHIVED] Where to get your Irish on

St. Patrick's Day

Corned beef and cabbage (COURTESY TAVERN ON THE LINE)St. Patrick’s Day is Sunday, and if you haven’t figured out where you’re going to get your annual fix of corned beef and cabbage or just to celebrate being Irish (even if you’re not), Dracut Economic Development is here to steer you in the right direction.

A-Brew’s Tap & Grill, 1794 Bridge Street, Unit 1, promises “the biggest party of the month,” with live music by local performers James Stark (noon-2), 3 of 6 (2-6) and FireViper (6-9), as well as a performance by the O’Halloran Irish Step Dancers. The kitchen will, of course, be serving traditional Irish food. Doors open at 11. Visit www.abrews.com or call 978-458-0555.

The Boat, 294 Tyngsboro Road, is offering live music with your corned beef. Dave Clark will play from 1-4, with Bad at Math taking the stage from 5-9. The Boat will be open 1-11:50, and there’s no cover charge. Visit www.theboatrocks.com or call 978-221-5678.

Coyle’s Tavern & Restaurant, 1480 Broadway Road, will celebrate Saturday and Sunday with a menu that includes all the Irish classics, including fish ‘n’ chips, shepherd’s pie, Guinness stew, chicken tenders and, of course, their boiled dinner. They’re open both days noon-10. Visit www.coylestavern.com or call 978-459-5709.

Don’t forget breakfast. M.L. Shaw’s Country Kitchen and Gifts, 14 Loon Hill Road, has some Irish-themed items for that most important of meals, including Lucky Charm Pancakes, the Loaded Leprechaun sandwich (2 eggs, home fries, Swiss cheese, corned beef on a bulky roll), and the Pot O’ Gold (home fries topped with scrambled eggs, corned beef hash and hollandaise). They’re also offering Shamrock Mimosas and Nutty Mocha Iced Coffee, topped with Lucky Charms marshmallows. Visit www.mlshaws.com or call 978-454-0800.

O’Hara’s Tavern, 1734 Lakeview Avenue, in Tennis Plaza, is serving their corned beef dinners and sandwiches starting Thursday all the way through Sunday, and they’ll open early Sunday at 10. Call 978-957-0271.

Owen and Ollie’s, 91 Mill Street, has a special food and drink menu, in addition to its regular menu, through Sunday, and there’s plenty of celebrating all four days. On Thursday, Fiddle Hill will perform Irish tunes. On Friday, DJ Steve will take requests for Irish music. The Katie O’Brien Trip will play Saturday, from 6-10, with a special appearance by the O’Halloran Irish Step Dancers. Wrapping the week up on Sunday, DJ Steve will be back from noon-5, and 5-piece Irish party band Jug of Punch will wrap it all up from 5-10. Visit www.owenandollies.com or call 978-957-4400.

Paddy’s Ale House, 1629 Lakeview Avenue, will make it a weekend-long celebration, opening at 9 a.m., both days with “breakfast sammies” till 11. Corned beef and cabbage will be served all day both days, with music aplenty. DJ Chris spins tunes Saturday from 3-7, followed by live music by Two Drink Minimum. On Sunday, Redline Band takes the stage from 1-4, followed by Hal Holiday from 4:30-7:30, with DJ Chris closing out the weekend from 8:30-12:30. Call 978-957-0273.

Primo Pizza, 149 Parker Avenue, has a two-day special of a classic Reuben – corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Primo’s special sauce, with fries – both Saturday and Sunday. Visit www.primopizzadracut.com or call 978-957-4856.

Tavern on the Line, 1794 Bridge Street, Suite 34, will be preparing 400 pounds of gray corned beef for a full Irish dinner all day Sunday. Rumor has it a leprechaun may even show up. Visit www.tavernontheline.com or call 978-452-0500.

Top Donut, 1895 Lakeview Avenue, has a very Irish-looking doughnut they debuted on Tuesday.
